Banten – A 6.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Banten Province on Friday, January 14, caused significant damage to homes and public facilities. According to data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the earthquake, which centered in the Sumur Waters, resulted in 3,078 homes being damaged. This includes 1,991 homes with light damage, 692 with moderate damage, and 395 with heavy damage. As a result, affected residents had to seek refuge in safer locations to avoid casualties from aftershocks.

To assist those impacted by the earthquake in Banten, PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) distributed a range of aid. In collaboration with PT Hutama Karya (Persero) (Hutama Karya) and PT Hakaaston (HKA), HKI provided packages containing food supplies and other logistical necessities. The symbolic handover of these donations was made by Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Hutama Karya Agus Kosasih and other CSR representatives from the HK Group to the Head of the PT Angkasa Pura II Volunteer Team at the BUMN Disaster Response Post in Taman Jaya Village, Pandeglang Regency, Banten, on Monday (17/01).

HKI's President Director, Aji Prasetyanti, emphasized that the aid distribution is in line with the company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, aimed at creating value for the community. “HKI is committed to helping the communities around the company, especially in the event of natural disasters. We hope that the assistance we provide, along with the HK Group, can ease the burden on the affected communities,” she said.

Implementing CSR Programs in Line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

In 2022, HKI plans to implement several CSR programs based on the sustainable development goals (SDGs), particularly in the social and environmental pillars. "The aid distributed to the earthquake-affected communities in Banten aligns with the targets in sustainable development under the social pillar, which aims to build the resilience of communities in vulnerable conditions and reduce their vulnerability to extreme situations, such as natural disasters," said Rian Hari Anggoro, Corporate Secretary of HKI.

As part of its CSR efforts, HKI will focus on two major program clusters: education and social, as well as environmental initiatives. This year, HKI will continue to prioritize contributions to communities around its projects and headquarters. It is expected that the local community will benefit from HKI’s presence not only through quality infrastructure development but also through educational, social, and environmental programs. The process of infrastructure development by HKI will complement its CSR efforts for the surrounding communities.

"Aligned with Hutama Karya’s principle of continuously connecting goodness, HKI will do the same, including providing value-added benefits in addition to infrastructure development," concluded Aji Prasetyanti.
