North Sumatra – The construction of the Binjai-Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road Segment Binjai-Stabat by PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) has been completed. The Binjai-Stabat Toll Road was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on February 4, 2022.

The Binjai-Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road is an extension of the previously operational Medan-Binjai Toll Road. The Binjai-Stabat Toll Road, spanning 11.8 km, was constructed from March 2020 to December 2021. This section of the toll road includes four underpasses, two underbridges, and one interchange. There is also a toll gate at the Stabat access, specifically at STA 1+600. Meanwhile, the main road of the Binjai-Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road, covering 57.52 km, is scheduled to be completed by May 2023.

Safety and health at work (K3) have always been a priority for HKI in the construction of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS), including the Binjai-Stabat Toll Road. The commitment to K3 in this project is evidenced by the Zero Accident Award presented by the Department of Manpower and Transmigration (Disnakertrans) of North Sumatra. This award was given for achieving 1,963,776 man-hours without any work accidents, from December 1, 2020, to December 31, 2021. The Zero Accident Award was proudly received during the National K3 Month.

The award was presented by Baharuddin Siagian, Head of the North Sumatra Provincial Manpower Office, and accepted by Sunardi, Head of the Binjai-Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road Project (Binjai-Stabat Section), on behalf of HKI at the Stabat Toll Office. Heru Pramana, Director of Operations II at HKI, emphasized that K3 is a key element in construction processes. “The success of a project is reflected in the application of K3 during its implementation. In building the Binjai-Stabat Toll Road, K3 has always been a priority to ensure the comfort and safety of all workers, as we also care about the welfare of our employees. We thank the entire Binjai-Stabat project team for their hard work in achieving zero accidents,” said Heru.

The Binjai-Stabat Toll Road is the first JTTS to be inaugurated in 2022. The opening of this toll road will ease mobility for the public traveling between Binjai and Stabat and vice versa.
