North Sumatra – President Joko Widodo officially inaugurated the Stabat – Kuala Bingai – Tanjung Pura segment of the Binjai – Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road, spanning 25 kilometers, on Tuesday (10/09). The inauguration of the Stabat-Tanjung Pura Toll Road was conducted alongside the Tebing Tinggi-Serbelawan-Sinaksak Toll Road in a joint ceremony at the Sinaksak Toll Gate in North Sumatra.
The inauguration was marked by President Jokowi signing a commemorative plaque, accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Acting Governor of North Sumatra Agus Fatoni, and Simalungun Regent Radiapoh Hasiholan. Also in attendance were President Director of PT Hutama Karya (Persero) Budi Harto, President Director of PT Hutama Marga Waskita Dindin Solakhuddin, President Director of PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) Aji Prasetyanti, and Operations Director I of HKI Fatma Dewi Setyowati.
HKI began constructing the Binjai-Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road in 2020. The Stabat – Kuala Bingai – Tanjung Pura segment is an extension of the Binjai – Stabat Toll Road (12.5 km), which has been operational since 2022. The Stabat – Kuala Bingai Toll Road (7 km) was completed and became operational in October 2023, while the Kuala Bingai – Tanjung Pura Toll Road (18 km) started operations in January 2024.
Currently, HKI is completing the next segment, the Tanjung Pura – Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road, spanning 19.5 kilometers. As of August 2024, the construction progress of this segment had reached 98.13%, with only minor works remaining. "Once the Tanjung Pura – Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road is fully completed, the public will be able to travel seamlessly from Medan to Pangkalan Brandan via the Medan – Binjai Toll Road and the Binjai – Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road," said Aji Prasetyanti, President Director of HKI.
The Binjai – Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road features four toll gates: Stabat Toll Gate, Kwala Bingai Toll Gate, Tanjung Pura Toll Gate, and Pangkalan Brandan Toll Gate. In addition to constructing the main road, HKI has built a rest area along the toll road. The rest area is located near the primary landmark of the Binjai – Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road, the Sei Wampu Bridge. This steel truss bridge is the longest continuous steel structure on the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS), with a total length of 231 meters and a main span of 130 meters, free of central pillars.
"As the main contractor of the Binjai – Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road, HKI is committed to delivering the best results with the highest quality standards. We seek the prayers and support of the community to successfully complete the construction of the Tanjung Pura – Pangkalan Brandan segment," Aji concluded.
To date, HKI has constructed approximately 336.7 kilometers of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS). Ongoing projects include the Padang – Sicincin Toll Road (37 km), Pekanbaru Ring Road (30.57 km), Junction Palembang (8.26 km), Betung-Jambi Section I (30.8 km), and Betung-Jambi Section IVA (18.5 km). HKI is also building other JTTS rest areas, such as the Medan – Binjai Rest Area. Outside of the JTTS, HKI is working on the Probolinggo – Banyuwangi Toll Road Package II (11.2 km) and the Jakarta – Cikampek Selatan II Toll Road Package IIA (11.3 km).
