South Sumatra – Aiming to enhance connectivity, HKI, a subsidiary of Hutama Karya, is currently constructing the Betung – Jambi Toll Road Section IV (Interchange Tempino – Interchange Ness), spanning 18.5 kilometers. This segment continues from the Betung – Jambi Toll Road Section III (Bayung Lencir – Tempino), which was recently inaugurated by President Joko Widodo. The Betung – Jambi Toll Road is part of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) Phase II, which will connect South Sumatra Province with Jambi Province.
As part of a national strategic project, this toll road development is expected to drive economic growth in surrounding areas. "The Betung – Jambi Toll Road will provide a new access route for people traveling between South Sumatra and Jambi," said Aditya Novendra Jaya, HKI's Director of Operations III.
To ensure the smooth progress of the project, HKI is fully committed to implementing the principles of Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (QHSSE) in the construction of the Betung – Jambi Section IV Toll Road. To minimize environmental impact, particularly dust generated during construction, HKI regularly sprays the main access roads with water tank trucks, repairs access roads used for construction activities, and conducts regular public outreach to inform local communities about ongoing construction work.
Additionally, HKI applies strict standards in selecting vendors and partners to ensure quality and sustainability during the project. To empower local communities, HKI collaborates with local vendors and partners who meet specifications, regulations, and required permits. HKI also ensures that all vendors have licensed quarries, ensuring that materials meet specifications and comply with legal requirements.
Aditya expressed hope that the Betung – Jambi Section IV Toll Road would be completed on time and with high quality. "Support and collaboration from the local community are essential to ensure this project proceeds smoothly, on schedule, and with excellence. We ask for your prayers so that HKI can complete this toll road successfully," concluded Aditya Novendra Jaya.
To date, HKI has constructed approximately 302.8 kilometers of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS). Other toll road projects under construction include the Padang – Sicincin Toll Road (37 km), Binjai – Pangkalan Brandan Section IV Toll Road (19.5 km), Pekanbaru Ring Road (30.57 km), and Palembang Junction (8.26 km). HKI is also working on the Probolinggo – Banyuwangi Toll Road Package II (11.2 km) and the Jakarta – Cikampek Selatan II Toll Road Package IIA (11.3 km).
