West Sumatra – President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, visited the emergency handling project for the flood and landslide in the Padang Panjang-Sicincin section (Padang-Bukittinggi via Lembah Anai) on Thursday (December 18). This project, carried out by PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI), was assigned by the West Sumatra National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN) to restore the infrastructure impacted by the natural disaster and ensure smooth transportation access that is vital for the community.
President Prabowo was accompanied by members of the Cabinet of Indonesia Forward, including the Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Defense Syafri Syamsudin, and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia. Also present were Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti, Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Andre Rosiade, along with local officials such as Governor and Deputy Governor of West Sumatra Mahyeldi Ansharullah and Vasko Ruseimy, and Tanah Datar Regent Eka Putra. President and officials inspected the progress and recovery efforts made by HKI. President Prabowo expressed appreciation for the swift actions taken in addressing the road damage caused by the flood and landslide. “Keep up the spirit and thank you for your help,” said President Prabowo to the HKI project team.
In the same event, Aji Prasetyanti, President Director of HKI, stated that the company is committed to accelerating the completion of this project by utilizing all available resources. “HKI is working to ensure that this vital road section can be safely accessed again. We also prioritize safety and quality in the face of uncertain weather conditions,” explained Aji Prasetyanti.
As of Thursday (December 18), the emergency response work by HKI on the Lembah Anai flood and landslide has been ongoing for 20 days. As previously reported, a trial opening of the access for four-wheel vehicles has been conducted to accelerate the recovery and mobility of residents connecting Padang and Bukittinggi, which also links to Pekanbaru via the Lembah Anai route. HKI is optimistic about completing this assignment with optimal results while prioritizing quality and safety. The direct support from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, who visited the emergency project site in Lembah Anai, provides strong motivation for the rapid restoration of this infrastructure, expected to have a positive impact on the community and the economy in the Padang-Bukittinggi area.
