East Java – PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) is currently working on one of its non-Trans Sumatra Toll Road projects, the Probolinggo–Banyuwangi Toll Road Package II STA 09+000 – 20+200, stretching 11.20 km, under the ownership of PT Jasamarga Probolinggo Banyuwangi (JPB).

The Probolinggo–Banyuwangi Toll Road is part of the Trans Java Toll Road network, strategically located at the easternmost tip of Java Island, providing access to Ketapang Port. This toll road project is being executed in two stages. Stage I connects Gending to Besuki over a length of 49.7 km, while Stage II extends from Besuki to Banyuwangi, covering 126.72 km.

The Stage I Gending–Besuki section is divided into three construction packages: Package I (Gending–Kraksaan, 12.88 km), Package II (Kraksaan–Paiton, 11.20 km), and Package III (Paiton–Besuki, 25.6 km).

For the construction of the Probolinggo–Banyuwangi Toll Road Package II STA 09+000–20+200 Kraksaan–Paiton, HKI collaborates with PT Acset Indonusa Tbk (Acset) and PT Nindya Karya (NK) under a joint operation known as KSO HKI-Acset-NK. The consortium is committed to acceleratingthe construction of the 11.20 km section stretching from Kraksaan to Paiton.

This toll road package will include various structural facilities such as one interchange at Paiton, nine main bridges, and 28 crossing box underpasses. The road will have a dual 2-lane configuration with a design speed of 100 km/h.

To accelerate construction, the Probolinggo–Banyuwangi Toll Road Package II integrates construction digitalization. Building Information Modelling (BIM) is applied during the design and build phases, complemented by the use of Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology for topographic mapping and 3D environmental modeling. BIM enhances construction effectiveness through detailed and thorough planning, reducing rework and waste.

Once completed, the toll road is expected to provide multiple benefits, including enhanced regional connectivity that will stimulate economic growth, tourism, and agriculture, thereby boosting local government revenue.
