Jakarta – PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) has successfully implemented Building Information Modeling (BIM) in accordance with international standards. This achievement is demonstrated by the receipt of the ISO 19650 BIM certificate, which was officially awarded to HKI on Wednesday (5/10).
The ISO 19650 certificate was handed over by Emmanuel Herve, Managing Director of the British Standards Institution (BSI) ASEAN, to HKI's President Director, Aji Prasetyanti, at the HKI headquarters in Jakarta. "We congratulate HKI for achieving the ISO 19650 BIM verification part 1 and 2. We appreciate the HKI BIM team. Hopefully, HKI can make improvements from verification to Kitemark in obtaining ISO BIM part 3, 4, and 5," said Emmanuel.
Aji stated that the receipt of the ISO BIM certificate is a reflection of the company's commitment to adapting the latest technologies in construction. "We believe that with the implementation of BIM, the planning and execution of projects will become more effective. All project phases can be planned and accounted for from the start, ensuring that the required resources are prepared according to plan," Aji explained.
The ISO 19650 certification signifies that HKI's BIM system implementation aligns with international BIM standards. To obtain the ISO 19650 certificate, HKI underwent various preparations, including training, gap analysis, and changes to BIM business process procedures in accordance with ISO 19650 standards. The certification process included two stages: an audit stage 1 covering procedures and scope of BIM usage at HKI, and an audit stage 2 evaluating the implementation of BIM on projects.
ISO 19650 is the international standard for managing information throughout the lifecycle of a project constructed using a BIM system. The implementation and certification of ISO 19650 will assist HKI in developing business processes and engineering, particularly in the application of BIM, ensuring that the company's BIM system can be managed and developed in line with ISO 19650 International Standards.
HKI has been implementing BIM since early 2019. Initially starting with 3D modeling, HKI has now comprehensively adopted BIM, progressing from 3D to 5D models, implementing a Common Data Environment, and utilizing BIM support technologies like photogrammetry drones and automatic leveling MMGPS. The BIM system is currently applied to all ongoing projects at HKI, including the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road projects in Pekanbaru–Bangkinang, Binjai–Pangkalan Brandan, Padang–Sicincin, Indralaya–Prabumulih, and Bengkulu–Taba Penanjung. The next challenge for HKI is to obtain the BIM ISO 19650 Kitemark certification for its BIM implementation.
