Bengkulu – On Tuesday, October 19, 2021, a flood disaster struck the Central Bengkulu area, inundating dozens of houses with water levels up to 1 meter and blocking access roads for local residents. To help ease the burden of the flood victims, PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) provided assistance to the affected communities in Desa Taba-Trunjam, Central Bengkulu, and Kelurahan Tanjung Jaya/Agung, Bengkulu City, along with other impacted areas. The aid consisted of hundreds of food packages, which were directly handed over by Site Administration Manager of the Bengkulu-Taba Penanjung Project, Sukendro, and other project representatives to the local village heads on the same day.
Aji Prasetyanti, President Director of PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur, stated that the situation affecting the residents of Central Bengkulu required the company’s attention, especially since the flood occurred near one of HKI’s ongoing projects, the Bengkulu-Taba Penanjung Toll Road Project. "We hope the company’s assistance can help alleviate the burden of the flood-affected communities," Aji remarked.
The aid distribution to the flood victims in Central Bengkulu is part of HKI's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment and adds value to the surrounding communities, beyond the ongoing construction projects. Moving forward, HKI will continue its efforts to bring benefits to the broader community by developing infrastructure and engaging in other value-added activities, including CSR initiatives.
