Jakarta – PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI), a subsidiary of PT Hutama Karya (Persero), continues the development of several Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) sections in 2023, including the Indralaya-Prabumulih Toll Road. This toll road passes through Ogan Ilir Regency, Muara Enim Regency, and Prabumulih City.

The 64.5 km Indralaya-Prabumulih Toll Road is designed for a maximum speed of 100 km/h. The toll road consists of 58 km of at-grade flexible pavement and the remaining sections are elevated, featuring pile slabs and bridges. The toll road includes two interchanges: the Indralaya Interchange and the Prabumulih Interchange.

An innovation in this project involves the use of geofoam for bridge approach embankments. Geofoam is a geosynthetic material made from Expanded Polystyrene and Extruded Polystyrene (XPS), which is lighter than granular materials or soil. "By using geofoam, we aim to minimize settlement during the road's service life. Additionally, geofoam is easy to apply, its quality is easy to control, and it is unaffected by weather conditions," said Selo Tjahjono, Director of Operations III.

For the Kelekar Bridge, which is located in an area difficult to access with cranes, the girder erection is carried out using a launcher method. The launcher method was chosen due to the large pierhead dimensions that prevent the use of cranes.

In soft soil areas, Prefabricated Vertical Drains (PVD) and preloading techniques are used for treatment. PVD is a geosynthetic material consisting of a core and a jacket, installed vertically to allow water to drain from the soil. Preloading involves adding a surcharge load to mimic the weight of the pavement and traffic during the consolidation process.

From a technological standpoint, HKI has comprehensively implemented Building Information Modeling (BIM) on the Indralaya-Prabumulih Toll Road project, from planning to construction. By using BIM, on-site construction processes have become more efficient, with well-planned and detailed designs that reduce rework and waste.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) based on SAP has also been implemented in the project. Using ERP-SAP allows for real-time business process tracking, making it easier to make informed decisions.

Quality, safety, and health are top priorities for HKI in toll road construction. In 2022, the Indralaya-Prabumulih Project Team received the Zero Accident Award from the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2019-2021 work period.

As of February 2023, the construction progress of the Indralaya-Prabumulih Toll Road has reached 94.76%. The toll road is expected to be functional before the Eid holiday. In addition to the main road and toll access construction, HKI is accelerating work on rest areas by fast-tracking the completion of mosque and toilet buildings to be used as public facilities during the 2023 Eid Mudik.

Currently, HKI is also working on several other JTTS sections, such as the Padang-Sicincin, Binjai-Pangkalan Brandan, and Pekanbaru-Bangkinang Toll Roads. For non-JTTS projects, HKI is handling the SMO Construction Services project in PHR Riau, the Callender Hamilton (CH) Bridge Replacement in Java, and the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road Gending-Besuki Section II.
