Sumatra– The spirit of independence has always been instilled in PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) as part of its commitment to building national infrastructure. In August 2021, HKI channeled this spirit of independence through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.
To commemorate Indonesia's 76th Independence Day, HKI conducted a food package distribution activity for communities around its projects. The distribution of these food packages took place on August 25-26, 2021, in villages surrounding the respective projects, including the Binjai–Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road, Bengkulu–Taba Penanjung Toll Road, Indralaya–Prabumulih Toll Road, Padang–Sicincin Toll Road, and Pekanbaru–Bangkinang Toll Road.
Corporate Secretary of PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur, Rian Hari Anggoro, stated that the food package distribution aims to assist local communities in meeting their daily needs, especially those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. "We hope that the distribution of these food packages can ease the burden on the communities around our projects. In the midst of this pandemic, fulfilling basic needs is the main priority for the community," said Rian. The food packages contained rice, cooking oil, tea, coffee, sugar, and instant noodles.
A total of 600 food packages were distributed, with representatives from each project handing them over directly to local community representatives, following the applicable health protocols. It was recorded that 15 villages around the project areas received the food packages.
This CSR activity is part of HKI’s commitment to creating added value for the surrounding communities, beyond the infrastructure projects currently being carried out by HKI. During the Covid-19 pandemic, HKI had previously carried out several CSR activities, such as distributing personal protective equipment (PPE) and Covid Kits to medical teams in various locations in Sumatra, including Bengkulu, Padang, and Pekanbaru, as well as providing ambulances to the Ogan Ilir regency government and foundations in Jakarta, and food package distributions. Despite the pandemic, HKI also continued to engage in other CSR activities, such as renovating mosques and providing assistance during natural disasters like the earthquake in Majene Regency and flooding in Bima Regency.
Looking ahead, HKI will continue to strive to bring goodness to the wider community through infrastructure development and other value-adding activities, including CSR initiatives.
