East Java – The joint operation (KSO) of PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI), PT Acset Indonusa Tbk (Acset), and PT Nindya Karya (NK) continues the construction of the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road Package II STA 09+000 – 20+200, spanning 11.20 km. “As of January 2025, the progress of this toll road project has reached 81.91%,” said Aditya Novendra Jaya, Director of Operations III at HKI.
The toll road, connecting Kraksaan to Paiton, will later be connected to the Gending-Kraksaan toll road, which is 12.88 km long and became operational during the 2024 Christmas and New Year holidays. In terms of structural facilities, this toll road will feature one interchange, the Paiton Interchange at STA 19+591, providing access to and from Paiton. Additionally, the toll road is designed with a 2x2 lane configuration and a planned speed of 100 km/h.
To accelerate construction on-site, the KSO HKI-Acset-NK is implementing the Deep Cement Mixing (DCM) method. DCM is a soil improvement technique used to enhance the stability and strength of the subsoil in construction projects by drilling into the ground and filling it with cement. This method is effective in stabilizing unstable soil to better support the toll road's structure.
“The use of DCM in the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road Package II project is one of the first implementations of this method in toll road construction. Typically, this technique is used by contractors in building construction projects,” explained Aditya.
In addition to DCM, the construction of the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road Package II also utilizes Building Information Modeling (BIM) supported by Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology to create topographic maps and 3D models of the area to be developed. By using BIM, the construction process on-site becomes more effective due to thorough and detailed planning, which helps reduce rework and waste.
Once operational, the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road Package II will accelerate the delivery of logistics to and from East Java and boost the economy in the surrounding areas. “We kindly ask for the support and prayers of the community so that we can successfully complete the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road Package II Kraksaan-Paiton section and bring positive impact to the people of East Java and its surroundings,” Aditya concluded.
As a point of information, HKI has completed the construction of approximately 435.92 km of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS). Other toll sections currently under construction include the Pekanbaru Ring Road (30.57 km), Betung-Jambi Section 1A (30.8 km), Betung-Jambi Section 1B (31.6 km), Betung-Jambi Section 2A (35.92 km), Betung-Jambi Section 2B (18.4 km), Betung-Jambi Section IV (18.5 km), Palembang-Betung Section III (14.6 km), and Palembang-Betung Structure (10.12 km). Additionally, for non-JTTS projects, HKI is also working on the Jakarta-Cikampek Selatan II Toll Road Package IIA (11.3 km).
