Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road is the longest toll road constructed by HKI and the first toll road in Riau Province.
- HKI built five elephant underpasses to protect the local environment.
- The project faced high complexity due to varied and extreme soil conditions at several locations.
- Utilized Corrugated Steel Plate (CSP) and foam mortar to reduce load and accelerate construction.
- This is the longest toll road HKI has completed.
On this toll road, HKI constructed five underpasses specifically for elephant crossings, ensuring that the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road does not disrupt the elephant habitat around Siak Regency. This reflects HKI’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.
The project involved significant complexity, with varied and challenging soil contours at multiple points. To address these, HKI applied Corrugated Steel Plate (CSP) technology and foam mortar. CSP is an innovative steel plate structure with a corrugated design that increases structural strength. Foam mortar is used as a lightweight substitute for fill material behind CSP and as a base for pavement. It weighs about half as much as traditional soil fill but provides sufficient strength according to technical standards and allows for much faster installation compared to conventional fill.
