Sumatra – PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) has completed the construction of two Rest and Service Area (RSA) on the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS), specifically on the Pekanbaru-Dumai and Bengkulu-Taba Penanjung Toll Roads.

The Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road now features ten RSA locations accessible to road users. “The distance between each RSA on the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road is approximately 20 kilometers. These RSAs can be found along the route from Pekanbaru to Dumai and vice versa,” said Aji Prasetyanti, President Director of PT HKI.

The Pekanbaru-Dumai RSAs are equipped with parking areas for both large and small vehicles, mosques, MSME kiosks, public restrooms, facilities for people with disabilities, and clinics for drivers. HKI has also allocated spaces for gas stations serving both fuel and electric vehicles.

On the Bengkulu-Taba Penanjung Toll Road, HKI has built two RSAs located 5 kilometers from the Bengkulu Toll Gate, on both the A and B routes. These rest areas feature parking areas for large and small vehicles, mosques, public restrooms, canteens, MSME food courts, clinics for medical assistance, and lactation rooms for nursing mothers.

“The architectural design of these two RSAs reflects the local culture. The Pekanbaru-Dumai RSAs incorporate Riau Malay architectural elements, including Selembayung Roofs and Sopi-Sopi Malay carvings. Meanwhile, the Bengkulu-Taba Penanjung RSAs feature floral motifs like Orchids and Rafflesia, as well as fauna motifs such as the Enggano White-eye Bird, an endemic species from Enggano Island,” Aji explained. The Bengkulu-Taba Penanjung RSAs also highlight local Bengkulu cultural elements, such as the Tabot Monument, which symbolizes the annual Tabot tradition held during the Islamic month of Muharram.

Both RSAs are also equipped with workshops for vehicle inspections and repairs, ensuring a safer and more comfortable journey along the JTTS. These RSAs can accommodate up to 50 large vehicles and 200 small vehicles, depending on the size of the individual RSAs.

“These two RSAs are expected to enhance the safety and comfort of toll road users, serve as locations for cultural education, and act as community interaction hubs to boost the local economy,” Aji concluded.

To date, HKI has constructed approximately 336.7 kilometers of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS). Ongoing projects include the Padang-Sicincin Toll Road (37 km), Binjai-Pangkalan Brandan Section IV Toll Road (19.5 km), Pekanbaru Ring Road (30.57 km), Junction Palembang (8.26 km), Betung-Jambi Section I (30.8 km), and Betung-Jambi Section IVA (18.5 km). HKI is also developing other JTTS rest areas, such as the Medan-Binjai Rest Area. Outside the JTTS projects, HKI is constructing the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road Package II (11.2 km) and the Jakarta-Cikampek Selatan II Toll Road Package IIA (11.3 km).
