North Sumatra – One of the toll roads constructed by PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI), the Kuala Bingai-Tanjung Pura Toll Road, was temporarily operational during the Christmas and New Year holiday season. This toll road is part of the Binjai-Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road project managed by HKI. From December 23, 2023, to January 3, 2024, the public was able to use this toll road free of charge. The temporary operation of the Kuala Bingai-Tanjung Pura Toll Road aimed to ease traffic flow during the holiday travel season in the North Sumatra area. 

Previously, HKI had completed other sections of the Binjai-Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road, namely the Binjai-Stabat and Stabat-Kuala Bingai sections. Currently, HKI is working on the Tanjung Pura-Pangkalan Brandan section. Once the Binjai-Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road is fully connected, travel time between Binjai and Pangkalan Brandan is expected to be reduced to just 30 minutes.
