Jakarta – On March 25, 2022, PT Hutama Karya Infrastructure (HKI) celebrated its 7th anniversary. As a subsidiary of the state-owned infrastructure company PT Hutama Karya (Persero) (Hutama Karya), HKI has contributed to the advancement of Indonesia’s infrastructure. Since 2015, HKI has been involved in constructing toll roads in Java and the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS).

In 2017, HKI completed the Medan-Binjai Toll Road Section 2 & 3, approximately 11 km in length. In 2018, the company completed the Palembang-Indralaya Toll Road (22 km) and the Mojokerto-Kertosono Section II (19 km). In 2019, HKI finished the Cinere-Jagorawi Toll Road Section II (5 km) and introduced the first toll road in Riau with the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road (131 km), a highly complex project. In 2021, HKI completed the Medan-Binjai Toll Road Section 1.

In February 2022, the Binjai-Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road Section 1 (Binjai-Stabat), spanning 11.3 km, was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo. Currently, HKI is working on five other JTTS sections: the Binjai-Pangkalan Brandan Section 2-4 (46 km), the Bengkulu-Taba Penanjung Toll Road (11.6 km), the Pekanbaru-Bangkinang Toll Road (40 km), the Padang-Sicincin Toll Road (37 km), and the Indralaya-Prabumulih Toll Road (65 km).

For its 7th anniversary, HKI has adopted the theme ‘Proactive and Productive’. This proactive and productive spirit is consistently upheld by HKI in completing various JTTS sections and executing the corporate strategy set forth. HKI continues to strive to deliver value not only through infrastructure but also through its social and environmental programs.

Several strategies have been planned for 2022, focusing on champion road portfolios, expanding into non-JTTS market contracts, improving productivity and quality, investing in Public-Private Partnership (PPP/KPBU) projects, preparing for JTTS Phase II, implementing construction technology for added value, applying Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Building Information Modelling (BIM), digitizing business processes, adopting lean organization principles, enhancing champion competencies, and advancing risk management to maturity level 3.

“While we are still completing several JTTS sections, we are simultaneously expanding into non-JTTS markets,” said Aji Prasetyanti, President Director of HKI.

In 2022, HKI’s main focus is to complete the Bengkulu-Taba Penanjung and Pekanbaru-Bangkinang JTTS sections. As of March 11, 2022, the Bengkulu-Taba Penanjung Section’s construction progress reached 98%, with a planned speed of 80 km/h. Meanwhile, the construction progress of the Pekanbaru-Bangkinang Section (STA 9+000 to 40+000) as of March 11, 2022, was 96.4%, with a planned speed of 80 km/h.

Beyond building infrastructure, HKI also strives to create added value for the communities surrounding its projects. The company continues to implement its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, including activities for its 7th anniversary. HKI has conducted social initiatives such as distributing essential food packages to communities and planting trees around the JTTS projects under construction. Moving forward, HKI will continue to align its activities with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the social and environmental sectors.

The series of HKI’s anniversary celebrations included various employee competitions, such as the Rising Star, Content Creator Challenge, Virtual Sports Challenge, 5R Competition, Creative Photo Contest, and Innovation Work Contest. These activities were organized to encourage HKI employees to maintain a proactive and productive spirit in their work and activities.
