West Sumatra – PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI), in collaboration with PT Hutama Karya (Persero) (HK), has completed the Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSR) program by constructing the Durian Sakok Suspension Bridge in Korong Tungka Lubuak Aro, Nagari Tandikat, Padang Pariaman Regency. This joint CSR program aims to replace the previous aging bridge that posed a safety risk for residents crossing the river.

The 37-meter-long steel suspension bridge has been officially handed over to the Padang Pariaman Regency Government and was received by Regent Suhatri Bur at the Regent’s Office in West Sumatra on Wednesday (05/02).

Previously, the Durian Sakok Suspension Bridge was a wooden bridge built independently by the local community. It has long been used by the residents of Nagari Tandikat to cross the Batang Sani River for travel and transporting agricultural or natural products. However, the old bridge had deteriorated significantly, endangering those who used it.

The new bridge is 1.6 meters wide and can hold up to 50 people at once, ensuring safe use for the local community. “This bridge is intended for pedestrians and motorbike users,” said HKI President Director Aji Prasetyanti. Construction began in September 2024 and was completed in January 2025.

Aligned with government programs, the steel suspension bridge is expected to provide lasting benefits for the welfare and economy of the local residents. Regent Suhatri Bur expressed his gratitude, stating, “We sincerely thank HK and HKI for helping build this steel suspension bridge. I hope the community will also take good care of it,” he said.

As a note, throughout 2024 HKI has carried out 40 CSR programs focused on environmental, social, and economic pillars across Java and Sumatra. In its business operations, HKI has built approximately 435.92 km of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS). Other toll road sections under construction include Lingkar Pekanbaru Toll Road (30.57 km), Betung-Jambi Section IA (30.8 km), Section IB (31.6 km), Section 2A (35.92 km), Section 2B (18.4 km), Section IV (18.5 km), Palembang-Betung Section III (14.6 km), and Palembang-Betung Structures (10.12 km). In addition, for non-JTTS projects, HKI is also working on the Jakarta – Cikampek Selatan II Toll Road Package IIA (11.3 km).
